Wallbrook Primary Academy has achieved the Inclusive Attendance Bronze Award, recognising its commitment to embedding inclusive attendance practice and ensuring pupils and families receive the support they need to thrive.
The award was presented during a Trust-wide Inclusive Attendance Conference, held at the new Shireland Training Centre in Oldbury. The event brought together academy leaders and attendance teams from across the Trust to celebrate progress, share best practice and prepare for the next stage of the Inclusive Attendance Standard programme.
The Bronze Award recognises schools that have embedded effective systems, shared expectations and inclusive approaches that support positive attendance across the whole school community.
As part of the programme, Wallbrook Primary Academy reflected on its current practice and explored how its approaches can continue to evolve, ensuring staff have the knowledge and confidence to support pupils effectively.
The Academy’s approach recognises the importance of creating an environment where children feel safe, supported and able to engage fully in school life, while continuing to strengthen partnerships with families.
Following this achievement, Wallbrook Primary Academy will continue its development through the Silver Award stage of the Inclusive Attendance Standard programme, building on its existing strengths and identifying further opportunities to enhance practice.
School Principal, Lorna McGregor, commented: “Children only get one chance at their primary education, so it’s important that they are able to benefit for every opportunity it offers. Consistent engagement with school helps children develop academically, socially and emotionally, while also giving them the confidence to embrace new experiences and challenges.
“Schools cannot do this alone. When families and schools work together with a shared understanding of what every child needs to flourish, we can create the positive foundations that support not only success in education, but lifelong wellbeing and aspiration.”
The Bronze Award is the first stage of the Inclusive Attendance Standard Programme and recognises schools that have demonstrated a clear commitment to inclusive attendance practice through professional development, reflection and implementation.
