Birmingham Children’s Hospital visit shows impact of pupils’ fundraising

Wallbrook Primary Academy welcomed a representative from Birmingham Children’s Hospital, who delivered an assembly to pupils about the work of the hospital and its charity, following the school’s recent fundraising efforts.

During the visit, the charity thanked the school community for its support and explained how donations had directly contributed to improving the experience of young patients receiving treatment. Pupils heard how the funds raised had been used to provide distraction packs for children, as well as a dedicated cinema room designed to offer comfort and enjoyment during their stay.

The assembly formed part of a follow-up visit after pupils at Wallbrook raised more than £1,000 for both Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity and Ronald McDonald House Charities UK through a series of fundraising events led by pupils, staff and families.

School Principal, Lorna McGregor, said: “It was incredibly powerful for our pupils to hear directly how their fundraising has helped children in hospital and supported families through difficult times. Seeing the real impact of their efforts has been inspiring and we are very proud of the compassion and community spirit they have shown.”

The visit reflected Wallbrook Primary Academy’s ongoing commitment to charitable work, with a strong emphasis on empathy, responsibility and active citizenship embedded across school life.
