Wallbrook Primary Academy hosted a day of circus skills for year 2 pupils, who learned to juggle, spin plates, and perform tricks with rings and scarves. The workshops, delivered by Primary Workshops for Schools, were part of the children’s Roll Up, Roll Up classroom theme, which explores the history of funfairs.
Pupils eagerly took part in the activities, supporting one other as they practised new skills. The day ended with a funfair-style showcase on the school playground, where families watched as children proudly demonstrated what they had learned.
School Principal, Lorna McGregor, said: “It was fantastic to see our learners trying new skills, encouraging one another, and enjoying every moment, showing just how active and playful learning can be. It’s the kind of experience they’ll remember for a long time.”
The Roll Up, Roll Up theme is part of the Academy’s Excite, Explore, Excel (E3L) curriculum, a programme delivered across Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust primary schools. It is designed to help pupils make meaningful connections across subjects and understand how classroom learning applies to the wider world.
Primary Workshops for Schools has been delivering curriculum-linked workshops across England and Wales since 2009. Their sessions encourage pupils to explore new skills, apply classroom knowledge practically, and complement the National Curriculum.
Wallbrook Primary Academy continues to prioritise hands-on experiences that make learning enjoyable and meaningful, giving children the chance to try new activities and create memorable learning experiences.
